What affects has the most recent lockdown had on the recruitment market? A recent report by the REC has found that temporary recruitment grew in January for the sixth month in a row.
The key findings of the KPMG and REC, UK Report on Jobs survey were:
- A renewed drop in permanent placements amid reintroduction of lockdown measures
- Uncertainty drives further marked rise in temp billings
Data broken down by region indicated that permanent staff appointments fell across all four English regions monitored by the survey. Rates of decline were marked across the board, with the Midlands noting the steepest contraction. The report suggests that employers and in some regions employees are not as keen to commit to a new permanent role and this has driven the increase in temporary opportunities available.
However, Allstaff are pleased to report different findings. January saw a steady flow of new permanent and temporary jobs across all our divisions. To see all our active vacancies visit the job page.
