Allstaff Warehouse Division are delighted to bring to the market the role of Assistant Warehouse Manager for company based near Inchinnan, Renfrewshire.

This is a full time permanent role. The hours are Monday to Thursday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm; Friday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (45-minute break)

Role Overview

As Assistant Warehouse Manager, you will support the Warehouse Manager in delivering the safe, efficient and effective day-to-day operation of a fast-paced warehouse environment.

You will oversee daily warehouse activities, supervise and develop the warehouse team, and ensure operational targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality, stock accuracy and customer service.

You will deputise for the Warehouse Manager when required, providing leadership and ensuring continuity of operations while driving a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day management of warehouse operations, ensuring goods are received, stored and dispatched efficiently.
  •  Supervise warehouse activities including goods-in, picking, packing, stock control and customer returns while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures, warehouse standards and company policies.
  •  Maintain accurate inventory through regular cycle counts and effective use of the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Monitor operational performance against KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  •  Liaise with internal departments to ensure production and customer requirements are met.
  •  Prepare operational reports and deliver team briefings as required.
  • Support audits, warehouse documentation and reporting.
  • Deputise for the Warehouse Manager during periods of absence.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of warehouse operations, products and customer requirements.

  •  Support continuous improvement and best practice initiatives.

  • Lead by example, maintaining high standards of professionalism, accountability and customer service.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
People Management
  •  Support, supervise and motivate the warehouse team to achieve operational targets.
  •  Allocate workloads effectively and assist with training and development.
  • Coach employees to improve performance and encourage engagement.
  •  Support attendance management, inductions and ongoing employee development.
  •  Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, collaboration and high performance.
Skills & Experience – Essential
  •  Previous experience in a warehouse supervisory, team leader or assistant management role within a fast-paced warehouse, logistics or manufacturing environment.
  •  Sound understanding of warehouse operations including goods-in, picking, packing, stock control, inventory management and despatch.
  • Experience leading, motivating and developing teams to achieve operational and customer service targets.
  •  Experience working to productivity, accuracy and service level KPIs.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe warehouse working practices.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  •  Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively in a fast-moving environment.
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound operational decisions.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining stock accuracy and operational excellence.
  •  Flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing business priorities.
  • Ability to deputise confidently for the Warehouse Manager and lead warehouse operations when required.
Desirable
  • Experience within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory or leadership qualification (e.g. ILM Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck FLT licence (or willingness to undertake training).
  •  Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  •  Experience preparing operational reports and analysing warehouse KPIs.
  •  IOSH Working Safely or IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
